Bunker Midterm
As a lover of Fallout and similar properties, I was extremely excited to get started on this project. However, I decided to go in a very different direction than games like Fallout. As it is getting close to Halloween, I decided that this bunker would be inspired by vampires! I thought the idea of a vampire, a creature used to being hidden away most of the time, adapting to a post-apocalyptic world to be very interesting!
The first room in this bunker is a living room and dining room. I decided not to include a kitchen as a vampire would have no use for one. In the dining room, I used a long table with tall, dramatic chairs to replicate the classic look of Dracula's castle. I included other gothic furnishings, including a grandfather clock that ticks. Although, as vampires do live a long time, I included one modern touch, that being a cassette player and tape. A vampire still using cassettes and thus making it the only piece of modern technology in this room was hilarious to me.
The next room is a bedroom. It includes a tall, gothic bed and other furnishings. I made the choice to have a mirror in the bedroom, despite the common understanding being that vampires cannot see their reflections. I decided that the vampire that lives here likes to check everyday to make sure they still cannot see their reflection. Maybe they're hopeful that one day they will be able to.
The final room is what I have been calling the "reality room." This is essentially a storage room. While the rest of the bunker was very appealing and matched the "vampire aesthetic," it wasn't very practical. When you live as long as a vampire, you collect a lot of things. This room has several cabinets and dressers to store their belongings. There is also another couple pieces of modern technology in this room, a utility box and a coffee maker. I think the cluttered coffee-making station helps to humanize the vampire that lives here.
Finally, I included spooky ambience music I got from Pixabay.
